A U.S. spice processing company needed a reliable automatic solution to package dried chili and granular spices in multiple pillow bag sizes. The solution is based on a customized FL-620A VFFS bagging machine with a multihead weigher. It handles automatic weighing, bag forming, filling, sealing, and cutting, and also includes a separate mode for making empty pillow bags.
The VFFS bagging machine is equipped with a multihead weigher for accurate portioning of dried chili and spice granules. After weighing, the product is discharged into the formed film tube, and the VFFS unit completes filling, sealing, and cutting. This configuration suits free-flowing granular products such as:
Dried chili pieces
Crushed chili
Chili granules
Spice granules
Seeds and similar dry food products
We can customize the multihead weigher packaging machine according to your target net weight, product density, and particle size. For chili powder, flour-like spices, or other non-free-flowing powders, an auger filler is generally more appropriate than a multihead weigher.

Bag Filling and Sealing with an Empty Bag Making Mode
The customer also needed to produce empty bags separately for additional packaging orders. We configured the machine with two working modes:
Product Filling and Sealing: Weighs the dried chili or spice granules, forms the bag, fills the product, and seals the package.
Empty Bag Making: Uses an additional customized fixture to seal the bottom of the bag while leaving the top open.
This combination allows the customer to use one machine for both filled spice packages and empty bag production, reducing the need for separate equipment.
